ABSTRACT
Aging process decreased the protective function of skin in the elderly and impaired wound healing with age. Pressure ulcer was more common in dependent malnourished elderly patients with chronic disease. The main risk factors of pressure ulcer in old people were friction/shearing force, humidity, malnutrition and decreased activities. Special attention to these patients has to be paid to decrease the incidence of pressure ulcer and to facilitate healing of ulcer in the aged population. (J Korean Wound Management Soc 2008;4:88-91)
