A fast track review and publication process is available for authors who desire quick publication of their papers, which may be for many reasons such as exceptional clinical importance and urgency of contents, funding policies, graduation period limits, and promotion deadlines. It should be clear to all authors that there is no difference whatsoever in the acceptance / rejection rate for fast track and normal review manuscripts; the acceptance of fast track submission manuscripts will be decided solely based on scientific merit with no preferences given, and JWMR guarantees that urgent rapid review and publication will not compromise quality.

Choosing the "Fast Track Submission" option from Step 1 of the submission process alerts the editors to consider the manuscript for Fast Track review. The corresponding author should make clear in the Cover Letter why the authors are seeking fast track submission and publication.
The Editorial Office usually answers within 1-2 working days by contacting the corresponding author and accepting or rejecting the Fast Track Submission request. Manuscripts rejected from the Fast Track may be reviewed in the normal way with the authors' consent. If the Editorial Office decides to proceed with the Fast Track Submission, the corresponding author will be asked to pay a non-refundable submission fee of 50,000 Korean won (50 USD), after which the Fast Track review process will be initiated.

Reviews of Fast Track Submission manuscripts will be conducted as rapidly as possible. The editorial decision for the 1st review will be returned to the corresponding author within 2 weeks of paying the initial submission fee at most, and any subsequent review results will be returned within 1 week of revision submission. When and after the decision for acceptance has been made by the Editor-in-Chief, the editing and proofreading process proceeds just as for normal publications. An additional basic article processing charge of 600,000 Korean won (600 USD), plus 100,000 Korean won (100 USD) per published page, will be charged for manuscripts accepted for publication.

Please note that the submission fee of 50,000 Korean won is non-refundable even with manuscripts ultimately rejected or withdrawn after Fast Track review, and that Fast Track Submission only guarantees rapid review results (whether for revision, rejection or acceptance) for each stage of review. Revision periods and total number of revision requests are not included in the guaranteed Fast Track review time limit; if each manuscript revision takes several weeks on the authors' side and multiple revisions are requested, it may take several months to reach the final editorial decision.
