ABSTRACT
Injury is one of the leading cause of death among younger population, and the surveillance system can make to find the characteristics about injury. We aimed to find the injury characteristics of wound injury patients in Jeju, by using the emergency department-based in-depth injury surveillance system. As results, wound injury patients were older than blunt injury patients, used more private methods to visit emergency room, and less related with alcohol intake, compared with fall and blunt injury patients. Wound injury occurred more in the working area, during the business, and by individual and industrial supplies than other injuries. There were more emergency operation as the result of emergency treatment in wound injury, but injury severity score was significantly lower, compared with fall and blunt injury.
