ABSTRACT
In large, evaluation of wound was subjective and we did wound care empirically. For making up, we made many attempts to objectify wound evaluation, and representative was measuring of wound pH. The purpose of this study is to observate of wound pH changes during wound healing phase and to present an objective standard by analyzing this data. We measured wound surface pH on 5 acute wounds and 10 chronic wounds (ph meter: SkinCheck1). For maintaing relation with established subjective evaluation, we took pictures. And Hemoglobin, Albumin, Protein and bacterial culture examination was done together. When wound was early phase and pollution level of wound was high, pH was low relatively (Mean, Acute wound: 7.43 Chronic wound: 7.19). When wound became to be healed, pH got higher gradually. (Mean, Acute wound: 7.66 Chronic wound: 7.23). There is correspondence between this results and previous study. In time, we will obtain the objective standard to estimate the wound healing phase and bacterial colony with putting pH meter on wounds simply. Furthermore we think that invisible wound healing process mornitoring is possible with remote pH probe. (J Korean Wound Care Soc 2006;2:41-43)
